
He is the recipient of a number of awards for clinical and basic science research excellence. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his findings at national and international conferences. Sarrafizadeh specializes in the management of a variety of medical, surgical, and inflammatory retinal conditions.

He joined Retina Consultants of Southern Colorado in November of 2014.ĭr. Sarrafizadeh completed fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan before moving to northern Michigan where he practiced for 13 years establishing a retina service that serves the upper half of the state. He remained at Northwestern University Medical Center for an Internship in Internal Medicine followed by residency training in Ophthalmology. Sarrafizadeh attended Northwestern University Medical School’s Medical Scientist Training Program where he obtained his M.D. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of vitreous and retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, uveitis, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, retinal detachment, and retinal vascular diseases.Ī graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering, Dr.

Luu came to Colorado Springs and joined Retina Consultants of Southern Colorado in 2003. He has published research in peer review journals, participated in several clinical trials and has given numerous ACCME lectures to Optometrists and Ophthalmologists at national meetings. Luu joined the National Retina Institute as director of fellowship training and participated in Ophthalmology resident training at the George Washington University. Upon completion of his fellowship training, Dr. Following his residency, he completed fellowship training in medical and surgical diagnostic and treatment of retinal diseases at the National Retina Institute in Baltimore, MD.

Luu returned to California for his internship at UCLA, then completed his Ophthalmology residency training at the Stanford University. He received the Dean’s Grant and graduated with AOA honors from the New York Medical College. He attended undergraduate studies at the University of California at Irvine and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. James Luu is a native of Southern California.
